One of my most favourite finds from the thrift store last year was a vintage tin dollhouse! I spent many hours playing with one just like it when I was young. (maybe not so young…I was 13 when I finally stopped asking for a new baby doll for Christmas..haha) My husband was the one who spied this beauty, complete with furniture!…all for the whopping price of $12! So many memories came flooding back, I admit I had tears taking it up to the counter. When the check out lady said it was half price day, and I owed $6, I couldn’t believe it! That’s why the store was so busy!!

Well my mind was turning with possibilities…I knew it was going to be displayed on my mantel for Christmas!
I started by putting battery operated lights inside. I placed the switch on the little balcony behind a couple bottle brush trees, so it was easy to turn the lights on and off. The house just glowed.
A vintage bottle brush wreath was the perfect touch above the door. Two vintage plastic tree ornaments flanked each side of the door. The little pink truck was the perfect touch, it worked perfectly parked outside! The snowman was a wooden craft my daughter had made when she was young.
I filled in the rest of the mantel with bottle brush trees and three vintage ceramic light up trees, that were my grandmas. The garland was made with vintage post cards I had collected. After brushing some white glue around each of them, and sprinkling them with glitter, I hung them from little glitter sprinkled clothespins. Every time I looked at my mantel, it made me smile!

And of course Nutmeg had to check it out too…nothing was harmed haha.

I hope this inspires you to use different things for your Christmas decor. A special toy, book, the possibilities are endless! My mantel will be different this year, I love to change things up! One thing that always stays the same though, is my love for vintage treasures, and the memories they create. Thank you so much for stopping by! Happy Decorating!
I absolutely love your blog and posts !!! xoxoxox . Truly inspiring. Although it makes me warm and fuzzy inside, I have a good chuckle seeing your kitties!!!! Blessings.. Love Mom.
Thanks Mom xo these kitties love the limelight!
I LOVE the tin house. What a great find! The whole picture of everything looks awesome. I have a cat that looks like Oliver. He’s my sweet boy. I also had a cat that looked like Nutmeg. I thought I was looking at her on your mantel. Miss her so much! I’m a crazy cat lady too. 🙂 Of everything I follow, yours is my favorite. I’m obsessed with thrifting and also change out my decor for every season. The problem though is, where do I put all my great finds?
Oh Sue! What a kind comment!!!! You just made my day! I understand totally about where to put everything!!! I think that’s probably why I change things so much!!! I want to display everything and rotate things around…we are empty nesters, so my one sons room is my decor room…believe me I have to go through it every once and awhile to “purge”
Thanks again for your kind comment! From one crazy cat lady to another! X0
The doll house is absolutely adorable!! It looks perfect on your mantel! Love it so much!!

Thank you Emily xo
I’m so happy you found this treasure. My older sister had a dollhouse like this, I always preferred toy trucks. lol
I love how you styled it. I am sure it will become a family heirloom.
*Smiles*
Awe Thanks Pamela! That’s so funny! My older sister preferred trucks! haha

Thank you Tricia!
Your mantle is wonderful. Such a special piece to find that brings back happy memories. The best don’t you think?
Your postcard garland is a pretty addition too.
I just purchased Christmas postcards. So pretty, some date back to 1925.
