Decorating DIY

Creating a Seed Packet Garland

I haven’t sent a post for quite some time. To be honest, I haven’t been too inspired to do a whole lot except hibernate! The weather really affects me, and winter isn’t my favourite time of year. I look forward to Spring, and the thought of puttering in my shed.

I wanted to do a quick DIY to spruce the shed up a bit, but use things I had around the house. This seed packet garland fit the criteria.

I started by downloading the free printable for the seed packets. I found Angies website on Pinterest and she has lots of wonderful posts! Here is a link to her site with the printables! (I printed out 14, so I had 2 of each) You can make these any size you like. I chose to make them 5′ x 7″ because I was hanging them up on a wall. I wanted to make sure they were big enough to see the detail. I cut them out and found a piece of cardboard that would fit all 14.

I painted white craft glue on the back of the image using a foam brush, and glued it to the cardboard. (You could use mod podge, but I didn’t have any on hand) I then brushed white glue over top of the image, covering the entire surface. This step helps protect them. After letting that dry, I cut the images out.

Now I had sturdy vintage seed packets!!

All I did next was attached them to twine, using clothespins! I love how they add such pretty colour to the back wall of the shed!

These seed packets would look so good hanging along a mantel to give a pretty Spring vibe….or print a few out and frame them….or use them as place cards on a Spring table scape! You don’t need to spend alot of money to do a quick Spring refresh. Come on Spring, we are ready for you!
