Porch sitting is the best! And there is something cozy about having a daybed on the porch! I change and rearrange the furniture on the porch every year, but one constant is the daybed. Today I am sharing the details.

Our daybed is one from Ikea. This was our daughters bed when she was in University. Now, every Spring it lives on the porch! To keep the mattress and box spring dry, I enclose them in plastic mattress covers. These are very inexpensive. Our porch is 8 feet deep, so the bed stays pretty dry. But we do get storms with lots of wind and rain, so I only use linens and pillow covers from the Thrift Store.

For the dust ruffle, I used 2. Dust ruffles have one side (that is supposed to be at the head of the bed) that doesn’t have a ruffle. So by laying 2 on the bed, in opposite directions, I have a ruffle that goes all the way around the bed. (hope that makes sense)

My husband put a hook on the ceiling above the bed so I could hang an inexpensive mosquito net. I just love the romantic feel it gives draping down over it.

Because of winds, I secured the net to the frame with binder clips. I bought them at the Dollar Store. They don’t really match, but that’s ok.

It’s so cozy to stretch out there with a magazine (and a kitty curled up at my feet of course) And the hydrangeas will be blooming in the next month, so that makes it even more heavenly! Happy Porch Sitting!

Thank you Kim!💗
How do you keep the copwebs and spidernests off and the everyday dust life brings?
Hi Jan! I wash the blankets and pillow covers throughout the summer. I like to change them up too. The netting does get the odd bee or bug caught in it…We just untangle them from it. When we stretch out on it, we are never under the blankets…just lying on top. If its a little dusty, we just brush it off with our hands, or shake the blanket a bit! Thanks for stopping by!
