DIY drop cloth curtains

I think one of the easiest projects I have done is making these curtains!
The patio door needs to be replaced, and we don’t use it anymore. So in the meantime, I wanted something to soften it.

I purchased an inexpensive drop cloth that was 4 x 15 ft. I cut the drop cloth down the middle…so I ended up with 2 panels………. each 2 x 7 ft.

Many people bleach their drop cloths to lighten them up, and make them softer. I didn’t mind the colour. (read “I wanted them up and done that evening…no waiting around!!”) I do NOT sew, but I’m here to tell you, my glue gun is used frequently!! haha I love the look of pom pom trim, so I pulled out some I had (this past Christmas, I used some on my Christmas tree, as garland) and my trusty glue gun.

After gluing on the pom pom trim, I folded the “curtain” over and hung it up using curtain clips….easy!! I just “eyeballed” how long I wanted them. ( I don’t often measure either) I just love how they turned out!! The pom poms just add that perfect touch! Instead of pom poms, you could hot glue on a wide coloured ribbon, or a strip of different coloured material…use your imagination!

I love your curtains!! The pom poms add so much. Where did you get your drop cloth? I was going to make some for my front doors to help with the afternoon sun but when I got them out of the package, they had a seam going across them. I was so disappointed but I will use it as a drop cloth. Thank you.

Hi Mary! Thank you! I bought them from Home Hardware. A hardware store in Canada (not sure where you are from) The cloth was just the right dimension to cut in half perfectly to make 2 panels! Hope you are able to find one and make them!
