Another easy DIY coming your way today. This one is so easy, it’s embarrassing! I’m showing you how to turn a plastic pumpkin into a planter/vase. I have seen these in stores and online, and thought…I can do that!
basic foam pumpkin pumpkin vase!
All you need is a plastic pumpkin and a sharp knife. I bought my pumpkin from a craft store years ago…but this one is similar. I took an old steak knife and cut a hole in the top! I wanted the hole to be big enough to put a jar inside. Start small….it’s easier to keep making the hole bigger rather than cutting it too big from the start. (mine started way too small!)
carefully cut your pumpkin…any steak knife will work! make sure your hole is big enough so the flowers lay nicely
You want a fairly decent size opening. The flowers look better, and lay better if it’s not too small.
Once you have your hole cut, it’s ready to hold a jar with flowers!! I have used it to hold a bouquet of my dahlias, on the step of my shed with zinnias, and you could also pop a small mum inside!
I used my pumpkin vase to hold a small mum my pumpkin vase holding a jar of zinnias! (Oliver hiding under the ladder)
This would also be great just holding dried flowers (hydrangeas of course) or branches, and skip the jar of water. It also would make a great centerpiece for Thanksgiving!
Hope you enjoyed this quick DIY! Thanks so much for stopping by and happy crafting!
They look so pretty. I was wondering when you were going to post them. Amazing what you can do with something so simple. Love them. Kinda like how Oliver blended in with the photo!! xoxoxo Mom.
