Decoupage Pumpkins with Napkins

It’s officially fall! Not everyone decorates their homes for every season, like I do, but a lot of people do for fall. Even if it’s placing a few pumpkins by the front door. Now is also the time to get out those craft supplies. We aren’t spending as much time outdoors…and the days are getting shorter. I have a few easy craft ideas heading your way, and today I am sharing the first one.

Decoupage Pumpkin…using napkins!

Supplies

I have had this pumpkin sitting around for a few years….I painted it white, but I still didn’t care for it. A couple weeks ago, I decided to use some of my pretty napkins to make it something special.

I’m sure many of us remember this technique from school. Start by brushing the modge podge on the pumpkin, (making sure it’s a big enough area that the napkin will cover it.) Place your napkin on top of the glue and carefully modge podge over the entire napkin. You have to be careful not to rip it, if your napkin is thin.

After the first one was glued on, I started cutting different shapes to fit the area on the pumpkin….just so I wasn’t overlapping too much. Work your way around the entire pumpkin until covered.

Because its a “rounded” shape, once I was finished most of the top part of the pumpkin, I took a hair dryer on low and dried it. That way I could balance the pumpkin upside down on a glass, to finish covering the bottom with glue and napkins.

Ignore the mess, we were having a crafting marathon! haha. The edges look loose, but once it’s dry, it will be smooth! (you can speed up the drying process by using a hair dryer on low)

I painted the stem brown first. (which after the fact, was silly, because I kept getting brown paint everywhere, waiting for it to dry!!) When I do another one, I will do that step last!!

Finished!

I’m pretty happy how it turned out! It was super easy, and the possibilities are endless! Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy Crafting!
